As a new parent with a 1-year-old, traveling has become quite the adventure. Here are my top 5 baby travel essentials for 2024, based on my experiences and a lot of trial and error.
1. Guava Family Lotus Travel Crib – Best Travel Crib
The Great: This crib is a lifesaver! It’s so lightweight and portable, and setting it up takes no time at all. The backpack carrying case makes it super easy to bring along wherever we go. Our little one sleeps so well in it, which means we do too.
The Good: I love that the mesh sides allow me to see my baby and ensure good airflow. Plus, it’s comfortable enough for naps and overnight sleep.
The Bad: It’s definitely on the pricier side. We had to add an extra pad because the mattress is a bit thin.
The Ugly: It takes up a bit of space, so it’s not great for very small hotel rooms. Also, packing it back into its case can be a bit of a challenge.

2. Ergobaby Omni 360 Baby Carrier – Best Baby Carrier
The Great: This carrier is a game-changer! It’s ergonomic, which makes it comfortable for both me and my baby. I love that I can carry my baby in different positions depending on what we’re doing.
The Good: The adjustable design fits both me and my partner perfectly. The lumbar support really helps, especially on long walks or during airport transfers.
The Bad: It can get quite warm, especially in hot weather. Learning to use all the carrying positions took some practice.
The Ugly: It’s on the expensive side, but I think it’s worth the investment. The straps and buckles were a bit confusing at first.

3. Inglesina Fast Table Chair – Best Portable High Chair
The Great: This high chair attaches to most tables, which is perfect for dining out or staying in a hotel. It’s lightweight and compact, and it even comes with its own travel bag.
The Good: The padded seat is comfortable for my baby, and the high backrest offers great support. It’s also machine washable, which is a huge plus.
The Bad: It’s not compatible with all tables, especially those with thick or rounded edges. We had a few scares with it feeling less stable on certain tables.
The Ugly: It can only be used at tables, so it’s not a standalone option. It might not last through very heavy use, but it’s perfect for travel.

4. Skip Hop Duo Weekender Diaper Bag – Best Travel Diaper Bag
The Great: This bag is huge and fits everything we need for a trip. It comes with packing cubes which make organizing all the baby essentials so much easier. Plus, it’s stylish enough for both my partner and me to carry.
The Good: It’s made of durable material and comes with stroller straps and a cushioned changing pad. Very practical for on-the-go changes.
The Bad: When it’s fully packed, it can get quite heavy. The zippers can be a bit tricky to manage with one hand.
The Ugly: It’s more expensive than other diaper bags, but the quality justifies the price. It might be too large for short trips or everyday use.

5. Marpac Yogasleep Hushh Portable White Noise Machine – Best Travel White Noise Machine
The Great: This little device is a must-have! It’s compact, easy to pack, and the battery lasts all night. It’s been great for helping our baby sleep, no matter where we are.
The Good: It’s simple to use and the volume is adjustable. It’s also quite durable, which is essential given how often it gets thrown into bags.
The Bad: There are only a few sound options, which is a bit limiting. The battery life is great now, but I worry it might decrease with frequent use.
The Ugly: It’s so small that it can easily get misplaced. We’ve had a few issues with the charging port over time.
